Fashion Test Drive- White Denim in Winter

Trend of the week- White denim in the middle of winter. Alright, I am quite aware Los Angeles in February is much different than New York City, but this styling can work no matter what coast you reside on. Wearing white denim is a bright and clever choice to freshen up the all-black wardrobes of the colder months. I personally, enjoy dismissing any 'fashion rules' or 'no-nos'. Why limit yourself? My look included a pink bomber jacket for a dose of color. When working this pale denim trend, find ways to include color or patterns. Lastly, I kept it casual with my worn-in Vans. I have been wearing Vans since I was twelve years old. It must be the California girl in me, I can't quit this skater girl sneaker. Now, I just have adapted it to fit twenty-something style. My favorite are the Sk8-high top- in black, white or cream. I love the unexpected edge of these kicks, with the feminine embroidery of the jacket. Have fun with this look, don't over think it and enjoy standing out.

Wildly Chic

A style girl's secret weapon? Leopard print. Like a bold red lip, or a strong cat eye- it is a classic technique to pump up a look. It's 2017, we do not fear the bold! This versatile and playful print has become today's newest neutral seen from runways, street style icons, and busy blogger babes. Seriously, leopard print goes with everything in your closet without much effort. It took me a little convincing before purchasing this Topshop peacoat. But once, I got home and started tweaking looks together, I discovered my confidence within this outfit. Leopard print isn't it a fleeting trend- it actually has a strong evolution in fashion history. (Dating back to the flappers of the 1920's.) I styled my coat with a crisp embroidered blouse, and distressed denim skirt. My finishing touch, are these killer Jeffrey Campbell loafers. I am obsessed with the pearl details on the heel, and the suede tassels on the toe. Simply, 2017 is all about taking risks for me. So why not start with my clothing?

Vintage Tee's + Black Jeans

I have talked before about how music influences my style choices. But this week quite literally, music help create this vintage look. My father (who I fondly call Big Lou) gifted me his collection of tour tees from the 1970's. Ranging from Bruce Springsteen to Ted Nuget- this graphic t-shirts became my badge of cool in high school. This BRUCE tee is my absolute favorite for its colorful graphics and bold fonts. Over the years I have seen brands reprint and knock off this EXACT shirt- but its my little secret that mines the real deal. This look is a little more edgy + tomboy (my total comfort zone).

Love Thyself Gift Guide

So February 14th is coming up (everyone has their opinions on THAT day). Whether you are in a long-term relationship or repping the single life, why not wait around for someone to treat you special? Do it yourself this year babe. Cause you deserve it. From catching up on emails, to stressful hours in traffic, to rejections and NO's. How about YES to self care, and giving yourself something special. Here is my little list of gifts + activities to do to make you feel 100. (Also dress up on V-day even if you don't have a date. Trust me, it'll perk up any blues). I am going for this gorgeous 1950's inspired BB Dakota dress, and my prized H&M baby blue pea coat.
GIFTS- Clothing, Beauty Products + Accessories.

EXPERIENCES-
Olive & June Nail Spa - The cutest nail salon in Los Angeles. Custom nail designs, beautiful interiors and friendly staff. Treat yourself and upgraded mani/pedi used with organic products.
The Now- I am booking my appointment ASAP since this spa opened its new location in Silverlake. A little exotic hideway, with affordable prices and instagram-able lobby. YES PLEASE.
DRY BAR- Honestly, I am horrible at doing my own hair. Whenever I want to feel a little more polished, I drop into the Dry Bar on 3rd street. Complimentary coffee, marble counter tops, and staff can create the exact look you'd like. Maybe I should learn how to blow dry beach waves for once... no thanks.
Barry's Boot Camp- Ok this might be because I am a personal trainer, but splurging on an expensive fitness class is TREATING YOURSELF. My go to? Barry's Boot Camp. I love sprinting on the treadmill, the heart racing playlists, and the fabulous instructors. It ups my confidence, and seriously kicks my endorphins into high gear. LOVE IT, try it, trust me.

Daisy Days

Swinging into spring a little early? I might be a tad eager, but in La La Land we embrace sunshine all year long. I am missing golden tan legs, drinking cocktails poolside, treks up to Dodger Stadium. I am longing for those days when the sun refuses to set, and stretch out longer and longer with each summer day. So even in the 'dead of California winter'- let's pretend not February. At least the weather plays on our team sometimes. Shout out to my readers in Chicago, New York City, Boston and any other snow covered city. Bundle up, drink hot coco, it'll be over soon.

Prediction for Spring- I will be embracing the ULTRA girly. Maybe it's my upcoming trip to Italy, or my infatuation with movies from the 1950's- Dreamy + whimsical are becoming more apart of my fashion vocabulary. (And this is coming from a tomboy who swore by vans and white tees). Light breezy fabrics, short hems, and playful prints feel ladylike and daring. I found this For Love of Lemons daisy skirt at Wasteland, and instantly fell for the print. Unfortunately, after scouring the internet- it is sold out EVERYWHERE. (Which makes me feel lucky to have discovered this + on sale too!). There is power in dressing feminine, that I think is remerging. So all hail feeling beautiful, fresh and easy.
