FRESH FACE // My Skin Care Favorites

Maybe because I hit my mid-twenties or maybe because I am on camera more often, but I find myself more inspired by the trending topic- SKIN CARE. Yes, fresh and dewy skin is here to stay. I find myself more invested test driving products on my skin, than learning to apply the makeup that goes on top. (The tomboy in me is clearly showing). So after experimentation, a little research, and some diet modifications, I am slowly understanding what works for my skin. Below I am sharing my skin type, and my current favorite products. Reminder, I am a total amateur! I appreciate cruelty free products, and want to learn more about organic beauty! My friend Celeste of the True Spoon is total skin care inspiration, so definitely check out her blog!
Skin Type:
I like to say that my skin type is Mediterranean. During the cold months, my skin is dry, dull and acne prone. When it is summertime, my skin THRIVES. Effortlessly tans, with minimal breaks. My breakouts are mainly hormonal and happen around my jawline, and my back. (Also caused from sweaty workouts).
My Routine:
FACE WASH: I feel like this is the category I have been test driving since I was twelve years old. I use to heavy benzoyl peroxide washes (literally Clean n Clear) through college. It wasn't until one fateful day at Sephora when a clerk suggested Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser. This cream based wash, moisturizes and soothes the face. The anti-bacterial properties help cleanse the skin, and fight off breakouts. I use this twice a day and will not be switching anytime soon.

SERUM: So, to be honest, didn't know what a serum was until this past year. (Once again, amateur hour). This past summer while traveling, I got a sample size of the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum, and fell in love. I use this immediately after cleansing. This vitamin C product helps brights my skin, and fights the signs of fine lines. My face looks awake after use. I am a big fan of Ole Henriksen, so you will see more on my list.

MOISTURIZER: Moisturizer is the product I change up the most. Depending on samples, products I am gifted etc. My skin is incredibly dry during the winter, so I try to find thick creams that can my skin can soak up. Some of my favorites include- Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer, Neutrogena Hydro Boost

EYE CREAMS: I typically don't get dark circles on my eyes, but I use an eye cream as a preventive for fine lines. I love the Korres Greek Yoghurt Under Eye Primer. I put the tube in the fridge so the product is cool when I apply it. I love the ceramic too, because its smooth and cooling on a sensitive area of my face.

TONER: I am a newbie when it comes to toners. I am still scouting for this product. I use my toner at the end of the day to get the dirt and makeup fully off my face. I have used Aesop Parsley Seed Anti-Oxitdant Toner, and Pixie Glow Tonic. This is one of the products I am still test driving- Give me any of your suggestion below.

LIGHT THERAPY: I was gifted Neutrogena's light therapy products (mask and stick), and I like to use it when I have an acne flare up. I get the hormonal under the skin cysts, and the light seems to bring down redness, and make the area less sensitive.

LIPS: My lips are very chapped, especially during LA's winter. I use a sugar lip scrub twice a week (I dig Sara Happ, but also interested in making my own.) Then when I do my makeup, I always put on Honest Beauty Magic Balm. I love that it's its all natural, and gives that chic glossy look. When I want to add a natural color I use the Honest Beauty Truly Kissable Lip Crayon
These are just a few of my top products, I have a much longer list. Brands I am still waiting to try: Sunday Riley, Glossier (their new acid for acne has sparked my interest), Drunk Elephant, and Juice Beauty. Comment below with some of your go-to products!
