Golden State of Mind // Skate Influences in My Style

My golden state roots never fade from my sense of style. I will never let go of the road trips to Santa Cruz, the scuffed up sneakers, tan summer skin. The rebellious + scrappy 16 year old from the bay, still finds her way into how I dress. I am awfully romantic about skater style, but this California kid can’t help it. I love finding influence from the 70's. The playful color blocking, and funky silhouettes. (Don't get me started about vintage levi flares).
California style is so embraces the easy and nonchalant. There is ALWAYS an air of not trying too hard. We embrace the casual. And aren't afraid of a pop of color. I adore this Madeleine Thompson sweater for spring. I was drawn to the rainbow pattern, and the boxy fit. I paired it with my current favorite skirt (Faux leather from Zara). It gives my look a little of a feminine twist, especially in contrast to my beat up Stan Smiths.
Lately, I have been trying to not pin my style down. Meaning- I am not going to constantly try to define it. My style changes with my mood, with the places I travel, and the music I listen to. I love that I don't follow trends, but follow my own style intuition. But I can tell you- my love for my home state is a constant, and it will always be my greatest source of inspiration.
